Most guitarists shy away from excessively technical gear. Because of this, they usually gravitate towards uncomplicated effects pedals. So the goal for most manufacturers is to put out pedals with only a couple of knobs. But occasionally even three knobs can be intimidating. Don’t allow this to stop you. Get in there, experiment and learn how to dial in cool sounds with your guitar pedals. If you are just learning how to customize your tone using guitar stompboxes, the MXR Carbon Copy is a groovy place to start.

Insert the Carbon Copy into your signal chain.

Plug your guitar cable into the input of the Carbon Copy. Plug the output of the Carbon Copy into the input of your amp.

If you have more than one stompbox in your signal chain you will need to determine where to patch in the Carbon Copy. Most guitarists put delay pedals at the end of their signal chain.

Understanding what each control does.

Delay:

The Delay knob allows you to modify the amount of delay time from 20ms (fully counter-clockwise) to 600ms (fully clockwise).

Regen:

The Regen knob allows you to modify the total number of delay repeats from one (fully counter-clockwise) to infinite (fully clockwise). This knob works together with the Delay knob, changing the amount of Delay changes the amount of Regen.

Mix:

The Mix knob allows you to change the amount of delayed, or “wet”, signal from completely dry (fully counter-clockwise) to equivalent amounts of wet and dry (fully clockwise).

Mod:

The Modulation button allows you to add a certain amount of modulation to the delay signal. Modulation is an effect that changes the pitch of a signal by a small, regularly occurring amount, making a warbling effect.

Inside the Carbon Copy there are two internal trim pots that allow you to set the width and rate controls of the modulation effect.

Effect on/off switch:

Like most guitar stompboxes, the Carbon Copy has a foot-switch that toggles on and off.

Some final tips:

Begin with the Delay and Mix knobs placed entirely clockwise and the Regen knob set full counter-clockwise. Turn the pedal on by stepping on the footswitch. A blue LED illuminates when the effect is engaged. Now all you need to do is dial in your desired sound by adjusting the three knobs in relation to each other.

Don’t let a lack of experience stop you from twisting those knobs. Experimentation can deliver amazing outcomes.

If you want to save money on guitar lessons, then you’ve got to stop looking at instructors, and start looking at self training systems. When you’re after the best, Jamorama review is always going to come up as an option. That’s because of how fast it claims to be able to train you at becoming a top guitar player.

But how well does this software deliver on it’s promises. What are you going to find when it comes time for you to actually use this software instead of going with a normal type of instructor?

But then you’re also going to learn the core mechanics of becoming a great musician through audio lessons as well, so that you can learn just from sound, which makes you an even better player.

But you also get text based guides that you can reference at your leisure. That way, you have yet more tools that are going to be helpful for showing you the ropes when you do want to master the guitar.

With everything that you get in the package of this guitar software, you can be sure that you’ve got enough tools for literally anybody to learn to play guitar. That means the foundation any musician needs to understand their instrument, and really take their playing to the next level.

All you have to do is have the commitment. You have to realize going in that guitar is all about the amount of time that you can put into playing. If you can’t commit a lot, you’re never going to be a great player.

Just remember to practice, because you can’t get anything out of Jamorama if you don’t put that time in yourself. If you don’t practice, then you’re just never going to be able to use this as an ideal method of learning guitar.

But if you find that you just can’t learn this way, or that it’s just not an effective strategy for teaching you to play, then you can still get your money back. This is backed by a 60 day money back guarantee, so you always have the option for a refund.

If you are a guitarist and budding superstar, then you will eventually need Electric Guitar Effects Pedals to enhance your performance, and to develop your sound and style. Of all the pedals available this article shows five which are most commonly used, with a brief description of each.

1. Compressor Pedal

The Compressor pedal is an extremely useful effects pedal but is considered to be the hardest to use, and certainly the least understood. To put it simply, this pedal enables the guitarist to switch from lead solos to a softer more rhythmic performance, while maintaining a constant volume level from the guitar amplifier. So from the perspective of the audience, all styles of the guitarists performances are heard from loud to soft, and the overall balance of the band is maintained.

This pedal is also extensively used for long sustained notes, allowing the guitarist to show off a bit. However, incorrect use of this pedal can either produce a rather bland performance, or at the other extreme produce unwanted noise.

2. Tremolo Pedal

The Tremolo pedal, first made popular during the 60′s, is still widely used today. Whether playing a single note, or chords, the pedal produces a vibrato effect by rapidly altering the volume of the sound.

To be a bit ‘techie’, a sine wave is added to a VCA (Voltage Controlled Amplifier), which affects the signal of the guitar. It is the amplitude and frequency of the sine wave which affects the rate and depth of the tremolo effect.

3. Overdrive and Distortion

If you are into a more aggressive, heavy metal style of playing, then the Overdrive-Distortion is a popular and simple to use effects pedal. The purpose of the pedal is to create anything from warm clipped tones to gritty or dirty sounds. Overdrive and Distortion pedals are relatively cheap to buy and readily available. Most have only a few controls such as Drive, Tone and Gain, which are more than enough to create a wide range of sounds. For more complex wave shaping abilities, more comprehensive O/D’s are also available.

4. The Wah Wah Pedal

A great pedal which is brilliant at enhancing both your lead and rhythmic performances is the Wah Wah pedal. The effect is similar to a human voice saying the word Wah – no, honestly. Varying the degree of the Wah effect is achieved via a treadle action pedal on the effects unit.

For reference, the effect is created by passing the guitar signal through an electronic low pass filter; the depth of which is controlled by the treadle. Although a very popular pedal for many years, the effects is now used extensively in modern day trance and dance music. Whereas the guitarist rapidly varies the filter effect, in dance and trance the top frequencies are gradually filtered out to produce a muffled beat and slowly restored again – generally to a rapid repeating drum riff.

5. Phaser Pedal

Just one more pedal to go and that’s the Phaser pedal. This is a very popular pedal which produces a very common, well know sound. The phase effect is produced by creating a copy of the guitar signal, which results in two identical sounds. These two signals are then remixed together, but this time slightly out of phase with each other. Enter the phase effect.

Configuring the Pedals

If you are wondering about the best way to configure your effects arsenal, there are two ways available. Firstly, you could buy a Multi-effects Unit, which has a varying number of guitar effects built into the one unit. This is quite a nice way of doing things and is easy to set up at a gig. Prices vary, but the quality difference between them is very small, mostly due to the fact that they all utilise microprocessor controlled technology.

If your on a budget and can only afford one pedal at a time, then another way of assembling your effects arsenal, is by daisy chaining the pedals together with cables, as you buy more. Some guitarists even prefer this method as many have favourite pedals which they know very well, and prefer the sounds or effects they produce. The order in which they are connected is a subject I will not go into, as this is debated often amongst musicians who have their own preferences.

If you want to master the guitar you're going to need some help. Everything in the world that you can do on your own is never going to help as much as having real lessons.

If you want to master the guitar you’re going to need some help. Everything in the world that you can do on your own is never going to help as much as having real lessons. That’s because it’s just too difficult to figure out all the mechanics of playing guitar.

You can almost always find combination packs from the brands that are offshoots from major guitar manufacturers. Like Fender has their Squire sets which are still good, but that are priced well.

You can also find more affordable gear from Gibson under the name of Epiphone. That way, you can save on the cost that you’re having to incur to get started as a musician, because it really isn’t cheap.

Most of these sets get you everything that you need to play as well. That includes the guitar, as well as an amp, and the chords and straps you need to make the two come together.

The problem when you learn to play guitar yourself, is that you end up using fingering that’s not the way you’re supposed to be playing chords. Then things like your pinkie ends up underdeveloped in it’s strength for playing, as well as your control.

You’re going to find that you have to know certain things like how to play certain scales, because that’s what you use to make yourself better. But you can only learn them through a teacher.

That’s where an instructor of some sort can really be beneficial. They are so helpful at teaching you how to play an instrument properly, and that’s always why they can be worth the big bucks.

But what you’re also going to find is that breakthroughs with your guitar playing is then more likely as well. That way, you can get rolling playing guitar like a pro a lot more quickly.

Enjoy a great deal more of this author’s thinking on Ejaculation By Command review.

There are many guitar learning outlets, but few operate as effectively as that website. Just don’t expect to turn into Jimi Hendrix overnight, because that’s not going to happen. It’s all about adjusting your expectations to real life, and then you’ll see why this is such a great learning system.

The tutorial videos that you get with Jamorama are second to none. You’re going to find that they show you everything that you need to know about proper fingering, positioning, and techniques.

But you’re going to find that Jamorama is a lot cheaper than an actual teacher, and doesn’t skimp on the quality. Through videos, audio and text, you’re going to learn everything about playing guitar.

Just be prepared for some work. It’s going to take practice if you want to get good at guitar, and that’s the one thing that Jamorama can’t do for you. This software will show you the ropes, but what you do from there is really all up to you.

There are many bonuses to using this type of guitar system to learn to play. Namely that you can count on going at your pace. If you want to learn faster, you can put in the effort to take Jamorama as fast as you could possibly want to do.

That’s what Jamorama is going to do through audio, as well as text lessons. The audio lessons will teach you more about how to play, but also how to hear the music with a musician’s ear.

That’s what Jamorama teaches, what you have to do so that you can get great at guitar. What you do with the knowledge from there is really all up to you. As long as you’re committed you’ll go far.

So don’t misunderstand and think that this is the miracle way that you can learn to play guitar remarkably fast. The only person that can teach you to play guitar really fast will be you, and your level of dedication.

Examine out extra of this author’s recommendations on this review of Jamorama.

Anybody can play guitar, but not everybody can really get great at playing guitar. There’s a big difference between someone that knows a few songs, and somebody that really knows how to play extremely well. That’s why tools like Jamorama scam exist, so that you can learn how to really wail on the guitar.

You’re going to find that on average, and from most reviews, this is just as valuable as having a teacher that can personally instruct you, because of the way that it’s going to teach you to play.

First off, you’re going to gain access to their two books. That means the beginner eBook for guitar basics and getting you started. Then you also get the advanced guide as well to help you out further.

But you’re also going to find that you learn all the core fundamentals as well. That includes how you can tune your guitar, how to keep time, and even how you can learn to read music as well.

The real bonus of using the Jamorama system to learn to play guitar, are the software tools that are going to help you out. You get access to a metronome, which is a vital tool that you can use on your computer to help you play much better.

While you’re going to discover that most of this is on you to practice, all the tools are here to get you to where you want to be. You just need to dedicate yourself just about every night, to practicing the guitar methods they teach.

It doesn’t take that long to get great at guitar either, usually after just a few years, you can actually be playing great. But don’t let anybody think that you can learn to master a guitar in just a few weeks.

It takes time to teach yourself these skills, and you’re going to have to put in that time and effort, if you really want to excel with everything that they have to offer you.

Not everybody is prepared for the truth about products like easy steps for learning guitar before they go out and buy them. That’s what can lead to disappointment and somebody wanting a refund for the time they spent trying the item. That’s why you have to be prepared for what you’re actually going to get.

There are a few reasons that Jamorama is ideal for most aspiring guitar players. But the first thing that you have to realize is how to separate the false claims from the real ones.

That means you have to have the motivation to practice, and you have to create the drive to actually play your instrument. There’s just no secret to learning to play guitar that works otherwise.

But then you also get the advantage of audio lessons so that you can take your guitar learning farther. Those two combine to make you a veritable master by the time that you’re through.

There are a lot of fake product reviews out there for this guitar software, so it can be hard for you to try and find the truth amongst all the ads and false information. However, you can find the truth pretty easily, as the website lists everything you actually need to know.

First up, you’re going to get tons of tutorial videos. This way you can see an actual instructor playing things for you, and guiding you through the process. That’s just as really having a teacher there to guide you.

Then you’re also going to get a chord guide. That means you can flip through this chord guide, and take a look at everything that they have to offer in the form of the different types of chords and written lessons.

That’s why Jamorama actually provides for you the value of having an instructor, without the cost. But you have to practice. If you don’t practice, you’ll just never be good at guitar, no matter what anybody tells you.

It is always a risk picking the top 5 for any field and it is certainly totally subjective but nonetheless very exciting to do. Fantastic guitarists are taken for granted nowadays so it is easy to forget the electric guitar was a total wave in music. All of a sudden the old guitar noise was replaced by the tone that’s so renowned today. Remember that it was only truly mastered in the 1940′s and taken up quite slowly..

The large surge of rock and roll in the fifties placed the guitar firmly in to the mainstream. As music evolved and expanded the lead guitar player slowly progressed into the monster of rock of these days. Your guitar solo became critical in every tune and the capabilities and sounds were wonderful.

There were some original exponents of the instrument who really enjoyed a huge influence on the players that followed. Dwane Eddy as well as Hank Marvin of the shadows were equally huge starts in the early days of rock ‘n roll. Their distinct playing was the starting pointing for many a virtuoso. This is the suggested list of arguably the 5 very best guitar players.

The Edge – U2 have steadily developed from the edges of punk rock in the 1970s to the huge arena act they are presently. In no short measure it’s a response to the astonishing sounds produced by the Edge. He and Bono truly combine to produce some outstanding tunes.

Jimmy Page – Like so many of the music greats of the 60s and 70s Page began their professional career as a session performer and following the usual tests and hardships joined the first arena rock and roll band Led Zeppelin. He made the guitar sing out and forced the distinctive Led Zep sound.

Eddy Van Halen – Hearing one of the superb and speedy guitar solos is a discovery. But he is far more than the usual 1 trick pony. He is able to help make slower solos sing out and be filed with sentiment. You simply should pay attention to van Halen to appreciate his majesty.

B.B.King – One of the original excellent musicians who takes on the blues like no one else. He affected a generation of electric guitar greats and is still performing it today. To listen for his tremolo sound is usually to be in the existence of genius.

Jimi Hendrix – Will have to be in each and every list of the best guitarists. He was a genuine innovator who really liked to be totally experimental along with his guitar and succeeded.

The list isn’t exhaustive but attests the long lasting quality of the guitar.

Musicians have been manipulating the sounds their instruments produce ever since they were invented. Altering reel-to-reel tape created the very first recorded sound effects. Beginning in the 1940s, these effects were built into tube-based amplifiers. It was not until the sixties that guitar effects pedals were developed, resulting from the arrival of the electronic transistor.

There are quite a lot of unique effects available for a guitar player to choose from. By far the most common one used is distortion. While virtually all amps have built-in distortion, employing a pedal provides the guitarist extra control during the process.

Dynamic effects were actually the first used by guitar players. These include compressors, noise gates, and boost (or volume). Noise gates are able to effectively reduce hum or static and are the opposite of compressors, that make loud sounds quieter and vice versa. Noise gates can make quiet sounds even quieter, and will make highly unique sounds when they are mixed with other effects. Boost effects do exactly that, by increasing volume.

Time-based guitar effects pedals add more echo or they will be able to delay the time it requires for the sound to become heard. A bit beyond producing echoes, a reverb pedal produces lots of echoes which lose quality with time. A looper pedal will record a snippet of a song, enabling it to be played again at a later time. This can be done prior to or during a performance. Some pedals enable several loops to become layered, creating a unique sound.

Feedback or sustain, though not always an ideal condition, can be manipulated by the musician to create overtones, which are tones that are a little bit higher in comparison to the original. Feedback could be challenging to produce and control without the appropriate pedal.

Modulation effects are a significant group of effects that use the same principle, essentially varying the volume strength, the pitch, and the timing. One example of this is a vibrato. This produces sounds with a number of fast variations in pitch. A tremolo is similar, nevertheless, it produces quick variations in volume. Some other modulation effects involve chorus and ring modulators.

Filter effects change the sound’s frequency for quite a few interesting results. A talk box is the most dramatic, empowering the guitarist to make the guitar sound like it’s talking. Wah-wah pedals and equalizers are other types of filter effects.

This article doesn’t cover all the guitar effects pedals on the market, but it does give an overview of a few of the most common. These types of pedals can be found in shops that offer electric guitars and various other musical instruments, and also on the internet or in local pawn shops. Some shops are dedicated to vintage pedals, which are able to create distinctive sounds not found in more recent models. These types of pedals make it easy to manipulate sound, producing something genuinely unique.
